Straight shaft paddle with positive blade position and hydrodynamic lift

Description

Nitro WW LCS 70 Extreme
If you know Lettmann’s paddle philosophy you’ll understand: a paddle without Ergonom-Shaft is a waste of energy. Reason: the Ergonom shaft places the blade further forward, the pressure point moves in front of the power point (your hand) and the paddle moves through water with less flutter and therefore with less power loss. It also results in a longer positive distance stroke.
Now, many years after introducing the positive crank, we followed the calls of those paddlers who just do not like to hold an Ergonom shaft in their hands, for whatever reason. And we’ve given our best to develop a “straight-shaft-paddle” with nearly the same positive properties as our Ergonom.
To do this we placed the blade of our new Nitro forward to achieve a longer reach and stroke. This results in a better and more even pressure build-up, the pressure point moves forward and the quite typical flutter movement of a straight shaft paddle is reduced to a minimum.
Of course the new paddle works according to the principle of “hydrodynamic lift”. This offers additional stability of the blade in the water and causes, despite reduced blade area, a better, more even and more efficient pressure build-up. Hydrodynamic lift is achieved due to the profiled blade in conjunction with its forward placement.

The new Nitro is a re-discovery of the straight shaft – and nearly as good as the original Lettmann Ergonom!

Construction Variations

LCS 70 Extreme

The Extreme layering of our LCS70 material is made for extremely hard use. For extreme races, in difficult whitewater, and for whitewater dowriver racing, athletes love this robust material composition. All models have an aramid (Kevlar®) edge integrated into the blade which prevents excessive wear on the blades’ edges. Furthermore an additional layer of carbon-kevlar hybrid weave adds strength and impact resistance.

  • 70% carbon for maximum pull power, high stiffness, low weight
  • 15% kevlar for high impact resistance
  • 15% glass fibre for high elasticity
  • Epoxy resin matrix for high strength
  • Edges with kevlar reinforcement
  • Extra laminate layers for more strength

LCS 100 Extreme

This construction was developed by Lettmann for whitewater use. Targeted placement of aramid (Kevlar®) provides high impact resistance and long durability.

  • 100% Carbon-Prepreg for maximum pull power and high stiffness
  • Edges with aramid re-inforcement
  • Additional laminate layers for more strength

LCS 70

Lettmann’s LCS70 construction offers the perfect symbiosis of light weight, stiffness and very high strength. Developed for paddling on easy to intermediate whitewater, for slalom training, or for high strain situations like ocean surfing.

  • 70% carbon for maximum pull power, high stiffness, low weight
  • 15% kevlar for high impact resistance
  • 15% glass fibre for high elasticity
  • Epoxy resin matrix for high strength
  • Edges with kevlar reinforcement
  • Extra laminate layers for more strength

LCS 70 Light

This LCS70 Light construction was developed for all those paddlers who don’t want to compromise on performance, but can do with less weight. Modern materialis and modern production methods provide for a stiff yet light weight paddle with high strength.

  • 70% carbon for maximum pull power, high stiffness, low weight
  • 15% kevlar for high impact resistance
  • 15% glass fibre for high elasticity
  • Epoxy resin matrix for high strength
  • Edges with kevlar reinforcement
